PRCA Insights: Project Management for PR Managers

Our next PRCA Insight session is an interactive half-day virtual training for Middle level PR managers, focusing on Project Management. Participants will learn to define clear project scope, manage competing priorities, prevent scope creep, and optimise team efficiency. Practical tools, group exercises, and action planning will help apply these skills immediately to real projects.

Workshop overview
Scope Management
- Understand the definition and components of a clear project scope.
- Identify key deliverables, exclusions, constraints, and assumptions in a PR context.
- Learn how to draft a concise project scope statement aligned with stakeholder expectations.
- Recognise the causes and risks of scope creep, and how to prevent it.
- Apply scope management tools (e.g., RACI Matrix, scope checklist) to typical PR projects.
Prioritisation
- Understand the difference between urgency and importance in task management.
- Explore and apply prioritisation models such as MoSCoW and the Eisenhower Matrix.
- Develop decision-making skills for managing conflicting priorities in projects.
- Practice aligning task prioritisation with project goals and deadlines.
- Build confidence in justifying priority decisions to clients and internal stakeholders.
Time Management
- Identify common time management challenges in PR project work.
- Learn time-blocking and scheduling techniques to manage competing tasks effectively.
- Use time management tools such as Gantt charts to plan and monitor progress.
- Understand the value of flexibility and realistic planning in projects.
- Improve delegation and workload distribution to optimise team efficiency.
