Nigel Heneghan, FPRII (Life) Former PRII President and Managing Director of Heneghan Public Relations was interviewed by the Irish Independent over the weekend about the recent acquisitions of Irish communications agencies. While Heneghan PR is far from being acquired, Nigel spoke about the acquisition ambitions of Heneghan PR and various factors to consider, including client profiles, cultures and chemistry.

Heneghan PR had a 15% growth in 2023, and are ‘looking at a something similar in 2024’.  Nigel attributes the organic growth to non-executive Chairman, Vincent ‘Mano’ Ryan, brother of the late RTÉ broadcaster Gerry Ryan, and to his predecessor John Mullins, CEO of Amerenco.

The article confirms the appointment of Emma Flannery, MPRII who has been with Heneghan PR for 11 years, who joined the Board as Executive Director last year; as well the former Taoiseach, Enda Kenny in 2021.  In 2023, Heneghan PR also appointed their first Operations Manager, Holly Geoghegan. In 2015, Eoghan Ó Neachtain, a three-time government Press Secretary, joined Heneghan PR as Director of Public Affairs.

Far from being a takeover target, Heneghan PR itself, Nigel in the interview confirms, may go on the acquisitions trail.
