MKC Communications is delighted to announce that we are Ireland’s first public relations company to have been awarded the National Transport Authority’s (NTA) Smarter Travel Mark. This award, a three-tier certification, recognises our commitment to sustainable travel options including changing attitudes and behaviours regarding walking, cycling and public transport, while also reducing single-person car usage.
We’ve implemented a range of measures promoting the importance and value of sustainable travel and associated environmental benefits for our team and visitors. We’re proud to have a broad range of measures in place that support sustainable and active commuting and are committed to further Smarter Travel actions. Over 90% of our team travel to work by walking, cycling or public transport.
Welcoming this award our managing director, Tim Kinsella said, “We’ve had a long involvement over many years with smarter travel initiatives across a range of local and national programmes so we understand the benefits that sustainable choices of transport can bring in terms of personal health and environmental and community wellbeing. It’s great that our entire team support these developments and we’re really grateful to our smarter travel champions Fiona Byrne and Ariana Silva for helping us to achieve this silver accreditation.”
Rebecca Wogan, Smarter Travel Consultant with the NTA said “The Smarter Travel Mark recognises organisations that prioritise the importance and value of sustainable travel initiatives and associated environmental benefits. Employer led sustainable travel initiatives are essential to reducing the impact of our collective dependence on cars as a mode of travel. MKC Communications is demonstrating a commitment to changing attitudes and behaviours in favour of sustainable travel options, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and a more sustainable future.”
